MIMplus wins the VR-INNOVATION Award 2025
The VR-INNOVATIONs Award 2025 recognises our development of high-performance rare earth magnets in metal powder injection moulding as a contribution to Europe's technological sovereignty and to strengthening innovative small and medium-sized enterprises.
On 10 July 2025, the Festspielhaus in Baden-Baden became the stage for Baden-Württemberg's most innovative companies – and we were right in the middle of it.
We are proud to announce that our company was honoured at the **VR-INNOVATIONs Award 2025 in the category of medium-sized and large companies. Our innovation, ‘High-performance rare earth magnets in metal injection moulding (MIM)’, impressed the jury and sent a clear message: SMEs are the driving force behind technological excellence in Germany.
Accompanied by inspiring keynotes from well-known personalities from business, politics and society, the award ceremony became a real meeting place for decision-makers, visionaries and future shapers.
Presented by the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative Association (BWGV), the VR-INNOVATION Award recognises not only technological excellence, but also the courage to rethink the future. This was also emphasised by Baden-Württemberg's Minister of Economic Affairs, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, who addressed all nominees in a video message and highlighted the importance of the award as a central platform for transformation processes in industrial SMEs.
What makes our innovation special
Our patented technology brings two worlds together: the performance of rare earth magnets – essential for electric motors, medical technology and high-tech applications – and the freedom offered by metal injection moulding (MIM). This opens up completely new application possibilities for complex geometries, miniaturised components and economical series production. What makes our innovation special.
"The award is particularly important to us because the permanent magnets produced using the metal powder injection moulding process enable us to offer a completely new, innovative manufacturing process that is unknown to experts in current research and development departments. Our manufacturing process offers previously unknown degrees of freedom that enable new products. This is precisely why it is particularly important for us to be able to present the technology to a wide audience. The VR-INNOVATION Award gives us the perfect opportunity to do just that."
– Dr Johannes Maurath, Head of Research & Development, MIMplus
Why this is more than just a technical achievement
Rare earth metals are strategic raw materials, and China currently dominates the global market. Our innovation not only makes a technological contribution to Europe's raw material sovereignty, but also a geopolitical one. Through resource-efficient manufacturing in our own country, we are strengthening supply chains in a sustainable, secure and independent manner.
A team success – and a look ahead
This award is also a big thank you to our entire team, who work tirelessly on the development of our (magnetic) technology with perseverance, innovative spirit and technical brilliance.
‘This award recognises the work, investment and effort that the entire MIMplus team and the company's shareholders have put into this technology.’
– Dr Johannes Maurath, Head of Research & Development, MIMplus
Focus on the future: Our journey continues
This award confirms that we are on the right track and encourages us to continue advancing our technology. We are constantly working to further develop our manufacturing technologies in order to enable even more efficient, powerful and sustainable solutions. The path to the future lies in innovation – and we are ready to continue boldly pursuing it.
